Barbara Who?
You know how towns love to boast about famous people who live there or where born there? They name stuff after them and real estate agents claim they’re listing a house that the famous person onced owned. Rancho Mirage, California however is mum on the subject of Barbara Boxer. I lived here for years before I had any idea that Boxer does as well.
It’s understandable. This is the sort of thing locals hope no one will find out about, like when there has been a gruesome multiple homicide and you don’t want it wrecking property values. The city honors the late President Gerald Ford all over the place: the Gerald “R Ford billboard; they named a street after him years ago and Mrs. Ford is a local treasure. Someone could actually blackmail the Rancho Mirage Chamber of Commerce by threatening to out RM as the home of Barbara Boxer.
