Chris Christie: Jersey Heartbreaker

So I go at a maddening pace, and I pretend that it’s taking
Your place
But what else can you do, at the end of a love affair

-Billie Holiday

So his comments about immigration were a little iffywith his “commonsense path to citizenship.”  And he won’t commit to joining the states fighting health care “reform.”

But there’s always been so much to appreciate about Christy, particularly the fact that he’s not Jon Corzine.  He’s gotten it right so many times, it’s painful to be shaken out of our collective infatuation.

But, now he’s getting warm fuzzies from the criminal enterprise known as CAIR  for his completely wrong headed comments about the proposed Victory Mosque at Ground Zero.

My principles on this are two-fold. One, that we have to acknowledge, respect and give some measure of deference to the feelings of the family members who lost their loved ones there that day. But it would be wrong to so overreact to that, that we paint Islam with a brush of radical Muslim extremists that just want to kill Americans because we are Americans. But beyond that…I am not going to get into it, because I would be guilty of candidly what I think some Republicans are guilty of, and the president is now the president is guilty of, of playing politics with this issue, and I simply am not going to do it.

Playing politics?  Hardly.  Obama scares the hell out of us.  Radical Islam scares the hell out of us.  And we’ll be damned if we are going to sit idly by while a crafty imam builds a giant monument to the barbaric slaughter of innocents 600 feet from where their remains are buried.

The bloom is off the rose.

Here we have an example showing why a merely economic conservative won’t do for protecting our Constitution and our Liberty. Smaller government is great, but we need to elect leadership that is grounded in principles consistent with The Declaration of Independence and The Constitution. Furthermore, it’s not just about bean counting; Character counts.

He is the governor of New Jersey, not Texas. He’s bound to say and do things that convervatives from more conservative parts of the US aren’t going to like and probably stands about as much of a chance of national office as a popular former Republican NYC mayor does. That said, he’s a huge improvement, not only over our past few Democrat governors but also the previous RINO governor.
