Obama Honors Animal Abuser

The President of the United States took time out from his grueling party schedule to honor, not one of our brave troops, but a vicious animal abuser.

Obama  called Eagles owner, Jeff Lurie, to passionately gush his admiration for Michael Vick who served prison time for his “dog fighting” ring.  But, this is not some backwater ignoramus staging fights in his back yard.  Vick was all that and so much more.  He tortured and killed helpless dogs.  He used puppies as pit bull fighting bait.  He mutilated animals who refused to fight.  He slaughtered these helpless creatures with his bare hands.  The man is a monster.

Always courting the Democrat vote, Obama is concerned that the playing field isn’t always level for convicted felons.  Really?  Is that Vick’s biggest problem?  Is he not yet making “enough money” by Obama’s yardstick?  How gracious of us all to give Vick his second chance.

Because the man plays football really well, we are to accept without question that he has been rehabilitated.  Certainly, there is nothing like a couple of years in prison to bring out one’s nurturing side.

The level of depravity shown by Vick is not amenable to redemption.  Nobody abuses helpless animals with such violence and such clarity of purpose and then magically turns his life around.  They do not install empathy and compassion in prison.  You’ve either got it or you don’t.

It’s appalling enough that Vick is playing pro football, but nobody seriously considers pro athletes to be good role models for kids anymore.  But, for the leader of the free world to take the time to express admiration for this barbarian is reprehensible.
