Overwhelming Majority Oppose Victory Mosque

Not that the will of the people needs to be considered or anything, but just in case anyone in power was interested, even CNN admits that seventy percent of America is opposed to construction of a Victory Mosque next to Ground Zero.

According to the new survey out Wednesday, nearly 70 percent of all Americans oppose the controversial plan to build the mosque just blocks away from the solemn site in lower Manhattan while just 29 percent favor the construction.

And for all of the dolts who insist on screeching about some imaginary First Amendment to right to construct a monument to jihad anywhere the imam darn well pleases–take the time to educate yourself about the history of the First Amendment and quit embarrassing yourselves.

Nobody is suggesting that the government has a right to control how the citizens worship.  The state does, however, have an interest in how beliefs are expressed.  The government has long had the right to regulate free speech in terms of time, place and manner.  Ergo, no yelling “fire” in a crowded theater.

Since seventy-percent of the population is opposed to this monstrosity, it doesn’t require a great stretch to imagine the constant civil disruptions that this terrible idea will generate.

The local government can, and should consider those implications when determining whether to permit the Mega-Monster-Mother-of-All-Mosques to be built 600 feet from the site of the worst terrorist attack in American history.
