Ralph Peters: Obama Administration Discovers Terrorism

Before we get too giddy over the administration’s recent bolt-from-the-blue discovery that there are terrorists all over the place who want to kill us all, Col. Ralph Peters gives us the likely, and not exactly comforting explanation:

Something big is happening. Big enough to alarm the White House. So big that the administration did an abrupt about-face regarding terrorism.

Terrorism’s serious now — driving major policy reversals. The administration just won’t tell us why.

Inefficient  Times Square bomber, Faizal Shahzad quickly went from being the subprime mortgage bomber, to lone wolf McVeigh bomber to an actual Islamoterrorist bomber.  The administration and fossil media were adamant that Shahzad was too lacking in “trade craft” to be a card carrying member  of al Qaeda Local 1026.

Then wham! Over the weekend, the Obama administration unleashed a reverse-course media offensive — deploying Attorney General Eric Holder, terror czar John Brennan, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and plentiful back-channel messages from staffers.

Instead of Shahzad being a one-off, Brennan tied him to the Pakistani Taliban and stressed to TV viewers that there are dangers we’re ‘taking very seriously.’

While the administration was crowing about how Shahzad was singing like a canary without a single waterboarding,  Eric Holder suddenly decided Miranda rights for barbarians trying to slaughter tens of thousands of innocents may not always have to be the administration’s highest priority.

Col. Peters reads that as Shahzad giving up more than name, rank and subprime loan number:

First, the administration has plainly realized that the terror danger is much higher than it believed one week ago.

Second, it means that Shahzad really has been talking — almost certainly tipping us that there are more America-bound terror trainees out there (or already here) and letting us fit together important pieces of the intelligence puzzle.

Third, the White House obviously fears more terror attacks sooner rather than later.

This sudden policy shift and media mobilization by an administration that’s usually lethargic on security issues means that folks at the top are worried about the political costs of a successful terrorist strike.

For all the backslapping over how quickly we nabbed Shahzad after the failed attack (a combination of superb police work and dumb luck), it seems at last to have dawned on the administration that, for all his technical ineptitude, Shahzad came very, very close to killing and wounding hundreds of Americans at a location symbolic of our country.

Everything is politicized with this administration, including the war on Islamic jihad.  Obama has figured out that a successful large scale attack on the United States would be a net negative in November.  We can only pray that this recent embrace of common sense holds up and the administration recognizes that hoping the bomb fails is not sound foreign policy.

Although I am glad that some of the ‘fog’ has rolled away on the collective federal government/lame stream media, I am baffled by the fact that the shooting of Pvt. William A. Long and Pvt Quinton Ezeagwula by a self-proclaimed jihadist (terrorist) is contiually left out of the terrorist/lone wolf reporting! Fox did originally cover the shootings and vowed “we won’t forget” yet, less than a year later have either forgotten or in the past was just something convenient for them to use in their muscle flexing with their more liberal counterpart. If so, more shame on them than those who were simple “saddened by the loss”! Maybe it was just not dramatic enough, not enough people were killed, to make the targeting of American soldiers on American soil important. Think about this, if this insignificant self-proclaimed jihadist had succeded, at the Little Rock Recruiting facility, the same number of American soldiers (possibly some Navy personel – civilians) would have been killed as in Fort Hood. Would it have been note worthy? Or does it need to be in the federal government’s back yard to be worthy of being called terrorism? Do these young men rate the purple heart? So far, neither the Army nor the federal government think so!

“”It certainly makes laughable all the ’socialist’ memes that are continually thrown his way.”"

Nonsense, it’s that quote that is laughable. The most oppressive governments in history are socialist. Obama will use any force he can get away with to impose his will on the country.

Obama has conveniently fallen in line with many of the previous administration’s understandings and abuses. It certainly makes laughable all the ‘socialist’ memes that are continually thrown his way. This is just one more example of that.

All this tells me is what I already knew….that Barokeydoke Hubris Obozo cares not a whit about the physical safety of American citizens or our collective security…it’s all about preserving his so called reputation for ‘comptence’ and ‘thoughtfulness’…but it’s way too late for that….every thuggocrat on earth has figured out what a gutless, naive punk he is and is treating him accordingly…ergo, there is no reason for me not to treat him the same way….especially since it is MY safety that is at risk here
