Think of Greece as California

The peerless Mark Steyn explains the economic crisis in Greece while deftly prognosticating the fate of the US economy led by the current batch of deranged radicals:
“Think of Greece as California: Every year an irresponsible and corrupt bureaucracy awards itself higher pay and better benefits paid for by an ever-shrinking wealth-generating class.”
On the eve of being declared America’s first failed state, California Democrats turn to former governor, and archetypical aged hippie, Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown for leadership.
“Brown, 71, has been acting rather coy for more than year about his plans, but he gave his first extensive comments about how he would run California since becoming the Democrats’ presumed nominee.”
The ever-so-coy Brown rolled out his can’t-fail plan to maximize California’s economic misery:
“– Health Care: Brown who as a presidential candidate supported a single-payer health care system, said he would be hesitant to create a government-run health care system in the state. Instead, he suggested Congress ought to pass President Obama’s plan for expanded health care at the national level.
– Raising Taxes: Brown declined to say whether he would raise taxes, saying government could save money by being more efficient and realigning its priorities.
– Federal Help: Brown said Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger was right to ask the federal government to give California more money to help balance its budget. He said Congress needs to be persuaded that states ‘are as important as corporations,’ which have received billions in bailout money.
– Budget: Brown said California ought to have a rainy day fund to ensure state programs don’t suffer in future recessions. “
Governor Moonbat also supports government control over the media:
“ Revealing the urge now felt by many left-wing Democrats and President Barack Obama supporters, Brown came out in favor of the Fairness Doctrine while appearing on the Michael Savage radio show Friday night. “
“Said Brown: ‘I think we need a robust range of opinions on the air.’ He added that ‘a little state control wouldn’t hurt anybody” and said that in warning against the doctrine, Savage was ‘paranoid.”’
Returning this loon to power will make Californians miss Arnold.
