Imagine the temerity of a reporter for the Daily Caller who dared to question King Hussein Obama’s right to extra constitutionally usurp congressional power on the issue of immigration. Off to the gallows for that hapless fellow.
Obama’s got the Republicans in congress in a box this time. To the general public, the issue on the table is immigration. In reality, the issue is Obama’s brazenly violating the constitution. Making laws is the exclusive purview of the legislative branch, not the executive. Republicans should be screaming bloody murder but they’re too afraid of being perceived as anti immigrant in an election year.
Romney sort of got it right when he said it’s a matter for the legislature to draft a long term solution. We need not dress the actual issue of immigration at this point. What we need to drill down on is the lawlessness of this administration. This president feels no need to concern himself with the supreme law of the land as long as he can see a political benefit to himself. At least we can console ourselves with the notion that he’s likely a quacking one termer.
God save the republic if Obama were to get a second go at it.
