At our house, we don’t collectively groan when an upcoming Mitt Romney speech is announced. We’re confident we won’t be subjected to a Castroesque never ending blatherfest that will drive me to switch over to the jewelry channel which is further proof that Obama really is causing me to lose money. On the other hand, I have gotten some really great deals.
Mercifully, Fox News will often break away from an Obama speech to cover a breaking news story, like a puppy getting caught in a storm drain.
Conversely, when we heard Mitt Romney was giving a major speech on foreign policy, everything else got temporarily set aside. Romney, looking far more presidential his opponent, the petulant brat who showed up at the Mile High Massacre, delivered a speech that was not only coherent but also familiar. What was that? Oh, I remember now! America as the leader! Yes, that was it! American strength and power. Uh huh. I remember when American presidents spoke that way. Leading from the front. When did leading from behind make any sense anyway? How does that even work?
The governor put the blame for the deaths at Benghazi exactly where it belongs. He made it clear that Obama has almost single handedly set the Middle East on fire. For all of the liberal bleating about how Romney’s speech was “vague”, he was pretty clear as he ticked off everything Obama has gotten wrong in the mid east, including but not limited to, failing to support the 2009 protesters in Iran and abusing our only ally in the region as well as enabling radical Islamists to take over Egypt.
Should Romney win the election and we are finally spared any more Obama speechifying, I’ll be a much happier person, albeit far less bejeweled.
